Winter Walks with a Twist!

You can spice up your winter walks and take a beautiful stroll near the river. Formulate a Scavenger Hunt List with your walking partner(s) to keep it interesting! A sample list could look like:

  • Walk on a Bridge

  • Find or Make a Snowman

  • Find a Pinecone

  • Spot an Icicle

  • Listen for a Bird Call

  • Spot an Airplane

  • Spot Animal Tracks

  • Look for Winter Berries

  • Search for Boot Prints.

If outdoor activities are not your thing, there are several things you can do with your family indoors:

Themed Dinner

Liven things up by having a themed dinner! This could be done two ways; you could have a cuisine theme such as Mexican Fiesta, Appetizer night or switch it up and do Breakfast for Dinner etc. You could also encourage your family to get really creative and ask your family members to dress up for the occasion as well! Perhaps dress up as characters from a Movie or TV show that is a family favorite. Have a fancy outfit that you weren’t able to wear in 2020? Why not roll out a “red carpet themed dinner?”.

Family Workout Challenge

Most families love a little competition. Why not take that fun competitive edge and put it to good use! Start a family workout challenge or participate in one of many online classes! Yoga is a great activity to do as a family – see who is the most flexible!

Camping in the Living Room

Who didn’t love giant slumber parties as a kid! This is a great way to bond with the family and feel like you’re able to take a break from your normal routine! You could tie in some of your favorite camping treats and make some smore’s in the oven, share ghost stories and eat hot-dogs!

Zoom Games

If you are physically distanced from your family, and unable to see them, you can get a bit more creative with your zoom calls and play some games! For an adult crowd, you can access some great games at PlayingCards.io Virtual Tabletop. Scategories is a great game to play as a group and a great link to use is Swellgarfo | Scattergories List Generator. As long as the host is able to share their screen, this link works great!

We hope you have a great long weekend with your loved ones! We look forward to hearing the creative ways you and your family were able to navigate around this unique year of connection!

Yours in Health,

Dr. Arti Kumar
